Nigeria election: Partial extension of voting to Sunday

Voters show their cards, ahead of the vote for the presidential elections in Gokana, 28 March 2015
Elections in parts of Nigeria have been extended until Sunday after delays and a number of attacks.
The delays were "not widespread" but were still "a matter of concern", an election official told the BBC.
Technical problems with new biometric cards slowed down voter registration, even affecting President Goodluck Jonathan.
More than 20 people have reportedly been killed in various attacks by unknown gunmen.
Mr Jonathan is facing a strong challenge from Muhammadu Buhari.
The election is said to be the most closely fought since independence

It was postponed from mid-February to allow the army time to recapture territory from the Islamist militants of Boko Haram.
The two main candidates had pledged to prevent violence during and in the aftermath of the elections.
But several hours after voting started, reports came in of violent incidents at polling stations in which at least 24 were reported to have been killed.
Voters prepare to cast their ballots at a polling station set up under a tree on the outskirt of Kano during the presidential elections, 28 March 2015

Thousands of Nigerians turned out to vote, despite threats from Boko Haram to disrupt the poll.
"We have suffered enough, fled our homes after many attacks," said Roda Umar, a housewife from the former militant headquarters of Gwoza. "I'm ready to endure the pain to vote."

'Slow progress'

Voters are also electing members of the house of representatives and the senate.
According to the Transitional Monitoring Group (TMG), the largest body observing the elections, voting had started in 75% of polling stations, while 92% had the materials they need to start the process.
Voters need to register using biometric cards with their fingerprints before they can cast their vote.
However, there have been problems with the card readers at many polling stations.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (Inec) said the accreditation process had "gone on well in several places", but was "slow" or had "not commenced at all" in others.

President Jonathan tried for some 50 minutes to register in his home village of Otuoke, before coming back a second time. When the electronic registration failed again, he had to be accredited manually and did eventually cast his ballot paper.
Problems were also reported from the north's biggest city of Kano, where thousands of voters waited for election officials and voting materials to arrive.
"No-one has shown up from Inec... This is a deliberate attempt to sabotage the elections," Ismail Omar, a 65-year-old builder, told AFP news agency.
Gen Buhari did not have any problems registering in his hometown, Daura.
After voting, he told the BBC the process was "in order but I have been watching activities in other states, which is disappointing, but overall it's on course

  • Two main presidential candidates:
Muhammadu Buhari, All Progressives Congress (APC), Muslim northerner, ex-military ruler, fourth presidential bid
Goodluck Jonathan, People's Democratic Party (PDP), Christian southerner, incumbent president, second-term bid
  • Years of military rule ended in 1999 and the PDP has been in power ever since
  • Nigeria is Africa's largest economy and leading oil producer
  • With a population of more than 170m, it is also Africa's most populous nation

Although Inec announced the extension, its spokesman Nick Dazan told the BBC the extent of the problems was not yet known.
Attacks were reported in north-eastern Gombe state, including incidents where gunmen opened fire on voters at polling stations.
It is unclear whether the attacks are the work of Boko Haram militants or political thugs.
However, Mr Jonathan told the BBC's Peter Okwoche that most of the violence in Gombe was not directly related to the elections.
"The war against terrorists is going on, voting or no voting," he said. "There was a conflict, kind of a crossfire, between soldiers and terrorists that had nothing to do with the elections."

Meanwhile, a soldier was killed in an ambush near the southern oil hub of Port Harcourt, the military says.
In other incidents:
  • The Inec website was briefly hacked by a group calling itself the Nigeria Cyber Army, which warned the body not to rig the elections
  • There was a controlled car bomb explosion at a polling station in Enugu state after the authorities discovered a car bomb
  • According to the TMG, intimidation of election monitors at three polling stations in the south

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has dominated Nigerian politics since 1999, but Gen Buhari's All Progressives Congress (APC) is viewed as a serious challenge.
Some 800 people were killed after the 2011 contest between Mr Jonathan and Gen Buhari, a former military ruler, who alleged fraud.
On Friday, the Nigerian army said it had retaken the town of Gwoza, believed to be the headquarters of Boko Haram, one of the last places still under its control

Nigerian presidential Election a Day To Remember

nigeria-voter0328.jpg

Nigerians turned out en masse to vote in a presidential election Saturday that analysts say is too close to call.
Good-humored voters smiled when electoral officials arrived late at many polling stations where registration was to start at 8 a.m. (0700 GMT) followed by voting from 1:30 p.m. (12:30 GMT).
Nearly 60 million voters are registered for the first election in Nigeria's history where an opposition candidate has a realistic chance of defeating a sitting president.
President Goodluck Jonathan and former military dictator Muhammadu Buhari are front-runners among 14 candidates who want to govern Africa's most populous nation beset by a northeastern Islamic uprising.
Buhari, resplendent in white robes, was the first voter to have his fingerprints taken at a polling station that opened a half hour late in Daura, his hometown in northern Katsina state.
He was followed an hour later by Jonathan, in sartorial black with his trademark Fedora hat, in southern oil-rich state of Bayelsa. Jonathan's registration was delayed for half an hour, apparently because a succession of newly imported card readers failed to recognize his fingerprint. Biometric cards and readers are being used for the first time to prevent the kind of fraud that has marred previous votes.
Afterward, Jonathan wiped sweat from his brow and urged people to be patient as he had through his 30-minute wait, telling Channels TV: "I appeal to all Nigerians to be patient no matter the pains it takes as long as if as a nation we can conduct free and fair elections that the whole world will accept."
This is only the eighth election since Nigeria's independence from Britain in 1960. In a country steeped in a history of military coups and bloodshed caused by politics, ethnicity, land disputes, oil theft and, lately, the Boko Haram Islamic uprising, the election is important as the nation with Africa's largest economy consolidates its democracy.
There's a lot of international interest, especially among nervous foreign investors as Nigeria is Africa's largest destination for direct foreign investment. Its oil-dependent economy is hurting from slashed petroleum prices.
Jonathan and Buhari on Thursday signed a peace pledge and promised to accept the results of a free and fair election. But already dozens have been killed in pre-election violence amid hate speech highlighting the religious, ethnic and geographic divisions among Nigerians.
Thousands of Nigerians and foreigners working here have left the country amid fears of post-election violence.
The Islamic uprising that killed an estimated 10,000 people last year has exacerbated relations between Christians like Jonathan, who dominate the southern, oil-rich area of Nigeria, and Muslims like Buhari who are the majority in the agricultural and cattle-herding lands of the north. The population of 170 million is almost evenly divided between Christians and Muslims.
Some 1,000 people were killed in rioting after Buhari lost to Jonathan in the 2011 elections.
Then, there was no doubt that Jonathan had swept the polls by millions of votes.
Now the race is much closer. The game-changer that transformed Nigeria's political landscape came two years ago when the main opposition parties formed a coalition and for the first time united behind one candidate, Buhari

Bomb goes off At Enugu polling Station

A bomb blast has reportedly gone off at a polling unit at the WTC Primary School, Enugu, Saturday morning.
WTC Primary School is located at Enugu North, one of the municipal local government areas in the Coal City State.
Residents say that this is the second explosion as the first bomb went off Friday night.
Reports say that the police anti-bomb unit at the scene just carried out two controlled explosions.
The latest controlled explosion was carried out around 9:05 am, few minutes after the Enugu Police Commissioner, Dan Bature, arrived the scene

Although journalists are still unable to gain entrance to exact spot, a source said the bomb was laden in a Honda Jeep.

The situation as expected has created panic and pandemonium in the area leaving voters to run for their dear lives

Boko Haram Attacks Polling Stations in Gombe

At least two people are reported to have been killed in a suspected Boko Haram attack on polling stations in northeast Nigeria on Saturday, residents and an election official told AFP.
The attacks happened in the villages of Birin Bolawa and Birin Fulani in the Nafada district of Gombe state, which has been repeatedly targeted by the Islamists.
An election official, who requested anonymity, said:
“We could hear the gunmen shouting, ‘Didn’t we warn you about staying away from (the) election?

Seven Ways to Attract more Money

Want to attract more money?
Wondering why you haven't attracted it when you've done everything you thought you needed to do?
What really works when it comes to attracting more money, anyway?
I've been studying the Law of Attraction for more than three decades. I've written several books about it, including The Attractor Factor and The Key. That's why I ended up in the movie The Secret, and then on Larry King and Donny Deutsch's televison shows, among others. I know how the Law of Attraction works, and I know why so many people don't clearly understand it.
When it comes to the Law of Attraction, most people want to learn how to use it to attract more money first. After that, they'll wonder how to attract romance, cars, homes, happiness, and everything else. But money is the starting place for most people.
So, how do you attract more money?
When it comes to attracting anything -- and money in particular -- there are seven ways to do it right. Here theyare:
  1. Give Money Away
It sounds counter-intuitive but the more you give, the more you will receive (unless you block the receiving, which ties into the next step). Give openly and freely to wherever you received spiritual nourishment. Give on a regular basis, too. The rule of thumb is to give 10% of whatever you receive, but it's also smart to give more when you feel inspired to do so.
Remember, give to the person, place, or group that has kept your spirit alive. Just ask "Where was I most inspired this past week?" and give to that source. And ask the question daily or weekly as the source will often change.
Here's an inside tip: When most people give money, they do it with a tight fist. They don't give much. Why not? Because they're afraid. They're holding on. Well, the energy of fear will attract more things to fear. Instead, give money with an open heart and an expectation of return. Give in love.
  2. Get Clear
Most people push money away with their hidden limiting beliefs, such as "money is bad" or "rich people are evil." Those are beliefs, not facts. Get clear of them and money will come to you (as long as you also do the next step).
Getting clear is truly "The Missing Secret" to making the Law of Attraction work for you all the time. After all, it isn't your conscious intentions that are being manifested in your life, it is your un-conscious counter-intentions.
For example, when you set a goal on New Year's day to stop smoking or date more, what happened the next week? You gave up your conscious goal for your un-conscious belief that you couldn't do it. You weren't in alignment with your intention. You werent' "clear."
Most likely in your unconscious mind you have limiting beliefs about money, such as -
    a.. "Money is evil."
    b.. "Money will attract problems."
c.. "Money will make me a selfish person."
    d.. "Wanting money is greedy."
    e.. "Rich people are snobs."
If you have one or more of those limiting beliefs within you, do you really think you'll attract any money? In truth, you'll attract NOT having money.
Why? Because your unconscious counter-intention ("Money is bad") will veto your conscious intention ("I now attract more money into my life").
Is it any wonder some people say the movie The Secret or the Law of Attraction doesn't work? Obviously, once you clear those hidden blocks/beliefs to your success, your success has nothing in the way of happening. The roadblocks are gone.
I talk about ways to get clear in my new audioprogram, "The Missing Secret." One thing you can do right now is to simply question your beliefs. Become a belief detective and look for those limiting beliefs about money. When you release your inner blocks, you will attract more money.
  3. Take Action
Too many people sit and wait for money to materialize in front of them. I believe in magic and miracles, but I also believe that your role in the process of attracting money is to actually do something to bring it your way. Act on your ideas. Now. "Money likes speed" is my favorite mantra.
If you don't act now, you'll see your idea manifested in a store some day and somebody else will be attracting money from it. What can you do right now, today, to move toward creating something that will attract more money? Whatever it is, do it.
When you doubt and second-guess yourself instead of taking action, you are demonstrating that you aren't yet clear (see second tip above) about money and your right to attract it. Act now and get rich.
  4. Support a Cause
Most people push money away because they don't feel they deserve it. One way around this (while you still work on getting clear inside yourself) is to want money for a larger purpose. I created Operation YES to end homelessness. Raising hundreds of thousands of dollars (or more) for that cause will remove any remaining prosperity limitations within me. While I won't receive a dime from Operation YES, my working on its behalf will attract money to me in other ways, such as the contacts and goodwill I'll create.
In short, want money for a larger reason than your own ego. This is a beautiful way to attract more money without wanting it only for yourself. Realize that when you are wealthy, you are better able to help family, friends, your community, and even the world. A good reason to attract more money is for all the good it can do for others, not just you. Ask yourself what cause would you support (or even create) once you attracted more money?
  5. Get Support
One of the wisest things you can do to achieve any goal is create or join a master mind group devoted to it. I co-authored Meet and Grow Rich with Bill Hibbler for this reason: to teach you how to create a support group.
The idea is to be around people who can keep your energy and inspiration high. While you can make progress alone, it's so much easier when you have support.
This support can also come in the way of audiotapes, books, and other learning tools. I've been buying audios from Nightingale-Conant for more than thirty years for just that reason: it helps me stay focused on constantly growing and improving. Even when I was struggling, I went to the library and borrowed books and tapes to keep me informed and inspired. Today I can afford to buy my own materials, but it's only because I invested in my education every step along the way.
I created "The Missing Secret" audio set to help people understand the practical use of the Law of Attraction. Again, all of this is support in helping you attract more money.
  6. Be Grateful
This is huge. Be thankful for the money you have - which is probably considered true wealth by people starving in third world countries - and you'll begin to attract more money. Gratitude sends off a signal of appreciation, which brings to you more to be thankful for. Begin with whatever is in this moment that you can be sincerely grateful for.
After I was homeless and while I was still experiencing poverty, I began this exercise by holding a pencil and being grateful for it. Once I truly experienced gratitude, it shifted my energy vibe so I could then experience more to be grateful for. Today I have much to be thankful for - from houses to cars to collectible guitars -- but it all began with a pencil.
Look around and ask yourself what you are grateful for right now. Then get into that feeling.
  7. Do what you Love
There's no sense in working at something you hate. If you are currently at a job you don't like, find a way to enjoy it for the time you are there while working towards doing your passion. Following your passion is the greatest secret of all when it comes to attracting wealth.
Everyone from Donny Deutsch to Donald Trump to Bill Gates to little ole me agree that passion (combined with the other steps above) is your ticket to financial freedom. Even when I worked for oil companies back in Houston and didn't like my work, I found ways to do what I loved. I wrote my first book on my lunch hours. I spoke on weekends and sold my book in the back of the room. Over time, doing what I love became my life. And today it's my moment by moment wonder.
Ask yourself what you would do even if you were never paid. That's a clue to what you should be doing and of course finding a way to be paid for it. You can attract more money from love.
    Finally, expect success.
The mindset of expectation - expecting that you are now attracting money and playfully looking around, asking "I wonder how big money will come to me today?" - will keep your brain turned on to seek and find opportunities. You of course then have to take fearless action when you see them.
Go for it!

Tontoh Dike and Halima Abubakar Fallout because of Juju

Tontoh
Halima

Our nollywood sources tell us, that Halimah Abubakar and Tonto Dikeh who used to be good friends, fell out because of a juju priest — It is said that Halimah, took Tonto to sample the powers of her juju priest who got encharmed by her looks and preferred working for her instead of his usual customer, Halimah.  Halimah could not stand the fact that she got sidelined by her own juju priest and asked Tonto to stay the hell away from her for good. A staff of Etcetera Live called Halimah at about 2PM yesterday (Friday) to confirm the story but she demanded for a text message to be sent to her instead. Further attempts to reach her proved abortive until about 11:32PM when she finally picked and said in her own voice, “this is Halimah’s PA, she will get back to you later.”
Hmmmm, so na juju separate the 2 of dem? No wonder dem no gree tell us wetin really happen between dem.  Breeze don finally blow fowl yansh ooo.
Same sources told us that Tonto does not like tattoos; she uses them to mask incisions gotten from her visits to her juju priest.
Etcetera Live is still on this matter and will bring you further details as soon as we uncover more.

Update Murdered Silverbird Worker: "Aisha Was Never My Lover!" Suspect In Police Custody Cries Out

The man arrested over the murder of 25-year-old Silverbird staff, Aisha Noble Mustapha in Ogudu Government Reserved Area, Lagos, has denied that he was her lover.
The suspect, identified simply as Chima, also denied having a hand in the murder. He claimed to have gone for the deceased’s rescue when he heard her shout for help penultimate Saturday.
However, accusing fingers were pointed at the 21-year-old suspect, following claims by a resident that he saw the suspect stabbing late Aisha.
This claim was corroborated by owner of the building with an undisclosed identity, who claimed to have rushed out of his flat when he heard a bang at the gate, only to meet the suspect and the deceased inside the drain in front of the building. The landlord, was also arrested by the police.

Also, the deceased’s iphone was said to have been recovered from the suspect.

When newsmen visited the flat occupied by late Aisha at 25, Salaudeen Akano Street, GRA, Ogudu, the gate was under lock.

The laundry store and eatery in front of the one-storey building were also locked, indicating that the owners could have fled for fear of being arrested in connection with her murder.

There were, however, bloodstains on the floor where late Aisha was said to have struggled with her assailant before falling inside the gutter.

The Chima we know—NEIGHBOUR

A resident, who eventually spoke with Vanguard after much persuasion, revealed that the late Aisha, who hailed from Auchi, Edo State, was the only daughter of her aged parents.

He said the suspect once lived in the same compound as the deceased.

According to the resident,
“Aisha was an amiable person. She was not a noisy person. We were all stunned when we heard she was murdered in cold blood.
“Chima (the suspect) was living with his elder brother in one of the flats in the same building with late Aisha. But he had a misunderstanding with his brother and was chased out of the house.
“His brother complained that Chima was mismanaging his business. He beat up Chima and drove him out of his house. We were so shocked to discover he was connected with the murder because he left his brother’s house three weeks ago.
“But from what we gathered, Chima said he came around that day to beg his brother for forgiveness. How he was found with the deceased right inside the drain remains a mystery to be unravelled by the Police.
“A man that rushed out to see what was happening said even when he attempted to bring the deceased out of the drain, Chima held on to Aisha, preventing the man from dragging her out.
“Again, someone claimed to have seen Chima hitting late Aisha. The man said he never knew he was stabbing her, until news later filtered in. These people have all made statements at the police station.”Family mourns

Meanwhile, her aged parents, who reside in Auchi, are reportedly yet to come to terms with the death of their only daughter.

Her aunt, Mrs Aisha Haruna, who late Aisha lived with before moving into her apartment, was crying at SCID, where the case was transferred.

Her husband, Mr. Abubakar Haruna, emotionally described late Aisha as a peace-loving fellow, expressing hope that police would be able to unearth the actual circumstance that led to her death.

Other sources however claim that the late Aisha had been stabbed and was trying to flee from her assailant when she fell into the gutter where she was found.

Its so sad that such a young beautiful life would be cut short like this. If you missed the first story read it here

Easy Ways to Achieve a Curvacious Figure

The year is no longer brand new but we are still in the first quarter so yes, you can still keep up the New years' resolution of staying fit *wink*. But this is much better, not only will you be fit you will get a more rounded figure simply by doing day to day activities . I'm saying all these because I'm  a personal beneficiary of these tips it's literally like a cheat code but before you know it you'll be shocked by the results just like I was when I looked at the mirror one blissful day....

  • Walking

Yeah its that easy don't be too lazy. Sometimes purposely park your car far away from your workplace so that you can put in those miles. Your well shaped behind will thank you for it not to mention your flat tummy.

  • Climbing the stairs

I know how frustrating it may be at times that's why we all prefer the elevator but trust me you'll start seeing results in no time if you can just ditch the elevator at times. It firms and increases your buttocks muscles.

  • Squats

It cannot be over emphasized enough it does in fact work. This is how to do squats
  • Eat More Healthy Calories

The emphasis here is on both more and healthy , it may be easy to eat more non healthy foods which is not what you want to do if your goal is to gain healthy weight .you need to be eating healthy calorie dense foods, those having high calorie per weight
Healthy sources for high calorie foods:
Beans ,legumes, starchy foods as potatoes yams and sweet potatoes, some fruits as grapes , figs and dates
Nuts are great ,they supply healthy fats vitamins and minerals and can act as a great healthy snack . And of course there is full cream milk.
  • Eat more frequently

You probably cannot eat a big meal at one sitting
To overcome this you need to eat more frequent smaller meals that you can tolerate and assimilate
Eat around the clock . Time your meals and snacks to be three hours apart.
  • Never skip breakfast

Break the fast before it breaks your weight gain efforts
After seven to eight hours of fasting during sleep your body starts to shift to catabolic mode , it will start breaking down tissues for energy starting with stored glycogen then fats and muscles . You can prevent this from happening by having your first meal as early as possible.
  • Don’t sleep on an empty stomach

If you are really determined to get that curvy body type ,try to have something light before going to bed to avoid running too low on energy while you are sleeping.
once your blood sugar drops , your body will start breaking down your stored glycogen and muscles for energy, the absolute contrary to what you aim at. I for one do not take this for granted anymore and it has helped me achieve a rounded figure
  • Sleep

Growth hormone is released during deep asleep while Cortisol is released when we are deprived from sleep . The former builds while the latter breaks down your muscles
Try to get 7-9 hours of uninterrupted sleep
  • Stress management

Stress will increase cortisol and muscle break down which can greatly hinder your weight gain efforts
  • Take it one step at a time

Gaining healthy weight is a slow long journey
Follow these advices , take it one step at a time
And most importantly, enjoy it while you do it
